General information of Datong
Datong is one of 24 historic cities designated by the Chinese government. The total area of the city is 14,112 square kilometers. Liuleng Mountain has the area’s highest peak, Huangyangjian (2420 meters above sea level).
Of Datong’s population, 99.6 percent are of the Han ethnicity. Other ethnicities include Meng, Man, Hui, Zang, Miao and Chaoxian.
